Tracklisting NOT final says EMI

Postby rtdarkhorse on Wed Apr 29, 2009 8:35 pm

from Beatles Examiner:

UPDATE: A spokesman for Capitol/EMI told us this (the amazon.com tracklist) is not the final track list and said the final version will be released soon.

Hopefully it's two discs!

That could mean anything. They post tracklists from Japan to America
that match by the way. Except for Marwa Blues which is probably variation
for the USA which gave a grammy to Marwa blues.

There is a huge outcry among the most hard core loyal Harrison
fans and then the next day, oh thats not the final tracklist

What does that mean ? they are adjusting one or two songs ? or
there is a second version with two discs. Usually a tracklist
comes at the same time as the artwork

what is going on here ?

I hope Capitol-EMI is doing more with the track listing to include the omissions (or at least a few of them).
whobeatle, you asked what's going on here? (amen, bro!)
If this update is true, and who knows, it means somebody caught wind of the criticisms we on this board have put forward since seeing the track listing on Tuesday. Hey, maybe my e-mail to Chris Carter resulted in him giving the label a quick call to voice his displeasure (or tell them about ours) -- I know, I am probably out of my mind to even think my e-mail could have that kind of reaction.
But Capitol MUST be aware that people aren't completely happy with this collection and might want to save face before it turns into a PR nightmare. I read one longtime fan say this will be the first GH album he won't be buying. Hopefully someone saw that.
The fact is, you can bring in as many casual listeners as you want. But you can't forget the core fans, either.
I will settle for a compromise. I was actually OK with the first track listing, since it included This Song. I didn't like it being dropped for Marwa Blues one bit!
Also, what happened to that second Let It Roll album? I pre-ordered that one, too.

Now the latest on the rumor mill says the tracklist is not accurate but its
close. Like maybe one or two songs are off but mostly its right.

This is dreadful if true. I dont care about the one disc set , provided there
is also a two disc to fill in the gaps. No bonus like Valentine or some such thing
lots of hits missing--seven top forty hits missing. Four albums missing out
of Georges ten solo albums, four of them aren't represented at all. That doesn't
even count Wonderwall, or the Wilburys, that would make seven out of thirteen
albums missing. How could anybody call that representative of his entire solo
career ? Honestly no ill will intended.

Leaked track listings on Amazon has happened before. A lot of times they're right. Sometimes they're wrong. I hope the outcry forces Capitol/EMI to make some revisions in their game plan.

I probably won't buy this new CD unless it has the single version of "Bangladesh", which is not on any of GH's remastered studio CDs.

Since it wasn't included as a bonus track on either All Things Must Pass, The Concert for Bangladesh, or Living in the Material World, I figured Let It Roll would be the perfect platform for a release of this version of the song. Let's hope the official tracklist includes "Bangladesh."

I thought it would make perfect sense that "Bangladesh" would be included in the LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD, after all its B side was added as a bonus track and it was GH's next release after that single. I was disappointed when it wasn't. Then I thought they may be saving it for a revamped GH collection, combining his Apple and Dark Horse material, to replace BEST OF GEORGE HARRISON and BEST OF DARK HORSE, it would only be logical.

When it comes to the handling of George Harrison's catalog, nothing's logical!
BTW, record companies have been bungling his work for 36 or 37 years already so why expect a change?
